NELLIE is an Essex smack, a fishing vessel of carvel construction, larch on oak frames. She was built by Walter Cook of Maldon in 1888 and was registered as CK276 at Colchester by George Arthur Vince in February 1920, for trawling and dredging. The vessel is an example of a small Maldon oyster smack that worked in the River Colne and Blackwater Estuary area of the East Coast.
