David Gowing was a film producer in the mid 60’s, he part-owned the ADC with Dick Harman whilst being a student. He became involved with the Society and was also his idea to start the Colne Match from the very early days and went on to buy the Sunbeam, and had started to rebuild her in the smackdock. It was the Eva Bunting Cup which was presented by David in memory of his mother for the best rounding of the Clacton Mark. David tragically died very young and this trophy is now in memorial to him. He also made the film Sailorman which you can view here;
